Learning, Caring and Achieving Together

This week there are some writing challenges to choose from. It is up to you which challenge you choose.  It would be better to complete one challenge well, rather than rush to complete all of them.

For each of the challenges you will need to spend some time planning your work.

Challenge 1  Non Fiction Writing

Choose a topic to research. It would be a good idea to choose something you already know a lot about, for example a favourite animal or sport.

Present your work as a non chronological report (Remember it will look like a page from a non-fiction book).

Remember to include:

  • Headings and Subheadings
  • Pictures and captions
  • Lots of facts!

Challenge 2 Descriptive Writing

Using the theme 'Spring' your challenge is to write descriptively. You may choose to write a poem or a piece of prose.

Remember to include lots of ambitious vocabulary.

Challenge 3 Recount Writing

Recounts tell us about events that have already happened.  They can take the form of a diary or a newspaper report.  Your challenge is to write a recount of something that has happened in your household recently. It could be a birthday, a gardening project you have helped with, an adventurous walk you have been on or anything you like.

Remember to include some thoughts and feelings in your recount.
