The Difference We Make

Helping to deliver outstanding opportunities

2018/2019 was a fantastic year of fundraising for the FSS, raising an epic total of just over £14,000!

A huge thanks on behalf of the FSS Committee to the wider community and all those involved in POP this year, which generated an incredible £4,000 donation towards this total. The amazing support we received from parents and friends of Sherston School at our famous Quiz Night, our Christmas Fair and Olympics Day alike was also invaluable in boosting this total.

2018/19 - where did the money go?

The fantastic efforts in 2018/19 have enabled the FSS to fund a broad range of extra educational opportunities and resources for the children to enhance their learning and development.

The highlights of our fundraising efforts over the last year for our teachers and children alike have included:

  • New tablets - for every class
  • Wiltshire Resources - providing, on a loans basis, a wide-ranging selection of high quality, multi-media learning resources to enhance teaching and learning including - books, artefacts, models, IT equipment, role play and costume, puppets, DVDs and interactive whiteboard activities.
  • School trips - subsidised for all year groups

We have also funded; the science week planetarium, music week, iSing POP and theatre performance.

Alongside the financial support the FSS provides, we work closely with the school and local groups to deliver a range of extra-curricular activities enjoyed by all year groups throughout the school year. These include our ever popular Movie Nights and School Disco to name but a few.

2019/20 - fundraising achievements so far...

Outdoor Learning is something many on the FSS are passionate about and we are looking forward to working with the school in this area.

We're also delighted to see Young Voices return to the school calendar and have already provided funding for the large transport cost, just one element of the school’s considerations in undertaking such a privileged event for the pupils to be part of.

The new fundraising year has already seen some fantastic results...

  • Oak Allotment Sale at the end of the summer term raised £49Congratulations to our green fingered (now) Year 1s!
  • Thanks to all your donations our September Rags2Riches collection raised £259.
  • Lucy Tom's Repair Shop raised £180. A huge thank you to Lucy for choosing our school as the beneficiary of donations made at this event.
  • The current Easyfundraising total is £274.70. If you buy anything online, please sign up via easy - it's such a simple way to raise money for our school.
  • 'Match Funding' of £500 from Nationwide was secured by Jen Moss (thank you Jen!) for last summer's POP event. Many companies throughout the UK offer employees the chance to boost their fundraising efforts by 'matching' the money they raise, so please get in touch if you think your employer might be able to boost our 2019/20 fundraising.
  • Apple Day made almost £400 adding to the £197.50 we received from Tracklements for the crab apples picked. Remember we get another 25p from every jar of jelly sold over the next year!
  • ‘Break the Rules’ Day raised a stupendous £217.
  • Movie Night raised over £345.

  • The current Easyfundraising total is £347.62.

  • The Book Fair earned us a fabulous £365 worth of books for the school library.

  • The School Disco in January raised a fantastic £220.

We’ll continue to update you on all our fundraising efforts and are looking forward to what we can achieve together in 2019/20 - here's to another successful year!
