World Book Day!

 Hi everybody!

World Book Week is a very loved time of the year! There are a few zooms happening throughout the week with some fantastic opportunities to hear teachers read a story or have a zoom with an author. I have uploaded maths, english, phonics and topic planning as normal. Please fit these in how you wish alongside the World Book week activities. Please do not stress if you do not complete everything. I have put the planning and extra World Book day activities up for you to plan your days how you wish. I have planned some World Book Day activities into the english and topic planning already. Below I have also added some ideas for you to extend World Book Week at home. These are not compulsory.

Any World Book Week activities can be sent to

World Book Day Activities

  • Dress up as your favourite characters

  • Design your own book mark

  • Read a free Audio Book (see english planning)

  • Design a potato/wooden spoon like one of your favourite characters (see topic planning)

  • Create a story scene in a box (see topic planning)

  • EXTREME READING - Ask parents to take photos of their children reading in extreme, funny or unusual places on their smartphone and email them to school to become part of a wall display. Parents can google ‘extreme reading’ for some inspiration (of course be sure not to do anything too dangerous!).

  • CHARACTER DRAW - describe a book character to a partner and the other one to draw what they are describing. The person describing has to give their partner a mark out of 10 on how close the character was to their description.

  • Create a mask of your favourite book character

  • Tasty book competition – Make a tasty treat or decorative treat that resembles your favourite book.
