Phillip Williams

Foundation Governor

Chair of Foundation and Ethos Committee

Married for 43 years, we moved to Sherston in 1980 and all our five children attended Sherston School and then Malmesbury School before moving on to university.
My career in primary education of over 30 years included the headship of two primary schools and secondment as an OFSTED inspector. This has given me wide experience of school management. The development of the individual children to their full potential through the advancement of self confidence and personal awareness underpins my educational philosophy.

Co-opted Governor

Member of Teaching and Learning Committee

Governor for Child Protection

I have been a Governor at Sherston C of E Primary School since May 2016.
I am a retired primary school head teacher, having spent almost twenty five years as head of a village school in Northern Ireland. Amongst other things, my role included being Designated Safeguarding Lead for my school, and I now act as the link governor for Safeguarding in Sherston. Since being a governor I have completed training in Safeguarding, Safer Recruitment and Prevent, and I am a member of the Teaching and Learning Committee.
My reason for joining the board of governors was that I wanted to maintain an active involvement in primary education.
I am married and have two grown-up daughters and four grandchildren.

SEND Governor, Pupil Premium Governor

In May 2017 I became the governor for SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) and Pupil Premium, a grant provided to decrease the attainment gap for disadvantaged children. I have been an educational and child psychologist for 12 years and currently work part time for Bristol City Council and South Gloucestershire Council. My main role is to provide the psychological contribution to Education and Health Care Needs Assessments. Previously I have taught modern foreign languages at secondary level and English at all levels to speakers of other languages, both internationally and in the UK. I have three children, two currently attend the school and the youngest is due to start in September 2019

Pat Whitehouse

Foundation Governor

Member of Foundation and Ethos Committee
I have been involved with Sherston C of E Primary School for over forty five years as a parent of three children, and more recently as a grandparent of six, my youngest grandson currently being in year two.
For eleven years I participated in "Open the Book" worship, when volunteers from the Church acted out stories from the Bible in school assembly with help from some of the children.
I am an active member of Sherston Parish Church and am keen to maintain the strong connection between the school and church.
I have been a foundation Governor since November 2017 and am a member of the Foundation and Ethos committee.

Belinda Robinson

Parent Governor

Member of Finance Committee

I am a parent governor and a member of the Finance Committee. I also own and run an on-line retail business where I oversee all areas including Finance, Marketing and Compliance.

I have always felt very lucky to have such a fantastic school on our doorstep so I jumped at the chance to become a Parent Governor in the hope I could bring a positive contribution to the school and its future. It has given me great insight into the challenges schools are facing and the dedication and commitment that goes into providing our children with the highest level of education and care.
