Learning, Caring and Achieving Together

Our Links with the Holy Cross Church

Our Church Link person is Becky Fisher, who is also our Family Link Worker.

As Family Link Worker, Becky's aim is to provide parents with additional support to achieve the best and most positive outcomes for their children.

Parenting can be very rewarding but we all understand how difficult and challenging this can be at times. To support this, Becky can help by:-

  • Providing parent support and information
  • Supporting with children's behaviour and attendance
  • Signpost to external agencies e.g. School Nurse, Food Banks and Parenting Consultants
  • Or just provide a listening ear as and when required

As a Church School:

As a church school our ethos and core values run through everything we do and the way we relate to our community.  We aim to ensure that each pupil is safe, happy and feels valued, unique and precious as a child of God within our thriving learning community.  Because we are a Church school, we strive for the highest standards academically but also in the development of each child's spiritual, moral, social and cultural education.  Every child is regarded as a gift from God and through nurturing all areas of their growth and development we provide better foundations for learning, resulting in higher achievement, and more self aware and compassionate children.

Our Foundation status is important to us. We actively promote Christian values through our daily acts of collective worship, our School Promises and our Personal, Social and Health Education but they are also implicit in the way in which all members of our community interact.  We have close links with the Gauzebrook School Ministry Team and members of the Church Community regularly lead collective worship within the school.  At Harvest, Christmas and Easter the children are welcomed into our local village parish church (the Church of the Holy Cross) to lead a service for friends and family.

Each term in Collective Worship we learn about a different value and on a weekly basis, some of the children who have demonstrated this value at school will have their names recorded in our Golden Book and will be celebrated during our Collective Worship on a Wednesday.  Please let us know if your child demonstrates this value at home.  They may, for example, have shared a toy or some sweets, or they may have played with a sibling when they really wanted to do something else.  If you drop us a note, we can also put these actions of generosity in our Golden Book.

Our Values for each term this year are as follows:

Term 1 - FriendshipTerm 2 - CourageTerm 3 - Curiosity
Term 4 - RespectTerm 5 - KindnessTerm 6 - Ambition
