On Monday 22nd January, we took 12 girls to Malmesbury Secondary School to take part in a gymnastics festival. We were fortunate enough to take part in the judging section first.

Each child completed an amazing floor routine and an excellent vault. The rest of the afternoon was spent enjoying various gymnastic activities including climbing ropes and partner balances. Each school that participated also had the chance to watch a video about George P and his journey through gymnastics. Unfortunately, George wasn't able to take part in this years festival but we couldn't miss the chance to celebrate the many occasions he has represented Sherston School at this particular festival.

When it was time for the results, all of the performers seemed very nervous but pleased once the results were read out.

Miss Duddridge and Mrs Peevers

The children really enjoyed their trip to Westonbirt Arboretum on Friday. They all came prepared in wellies and waterproof trousers for a day in the mud. Ash class waded through the woods reinventing their class story Stickman and Oak class trekked across the arboretum on a nature hunt. They collected all sorts of natural objects for our learning at school. They also built some fantastic dens. Of course we could not leave Westonbirt without seeing the Gruffalos’ Child!

On Monday, 55 key stage 2 children took part in Young Voices at Birmingham's Genting arena with around 5000 other children. An experience to remember, we had spent lots of time learning and rehearsing all the songs. I was very proud of how all the children participated and conducted themselves and I hope the experience was enjoyed by everyone. The sound of 5000 children all singing together and enjoying music is awe inspiring. A huge thanks to the FSS for paying towards the children's coach and the registration fee as well as Miss Duddridge, Mrs Farahar, Mrs Hulme and Mr Crawford who helped on the trip. A special mention to Mrs Stokes for the huge amount of work involved in administrating this trip.
