Lots of little things make a big difference

The long and short of it is, in the challenging economic climate that all schools are facing, the funds raised by groups like the FSS are more vital than ever.

But without people giving a little of their time to a great cause, the FSS wouldn’t exist – and the reality is that as a result our children wouldn’t enjoy the wide range of learning and development opportunities and extra-curricular experiences we are able to fund.

We really appreciate how busy life is, but lots of little things make a big difference. So even if you can spare an hour a week or a year, it’s corny but it’s true – every little really does help.

So, how can you get involved?

Come along to our FSS meetings...

All parents with children at the school are automatically FSS members! We always love to see new faces and hear about new fundraising ideas. Friendly chat, laughs, drinks and nibbles guaranteed. It’s also a great way to get to know other parents and become part of the school community.

Help out at FSS events...

We have a calendar of exciting events planned across the school year, with each class taking responsibility for organising two events annually. Every year group has two FSS Class Reps who are responsible for coordinating these events, but they can’t do it without the help of other parents, so that’s where you come in.

Your Class Reps will keep you up to date with all the latest FSS events via the class What's App groups. When it comes to the events your class is responsible for organising, they'll be on the look out for volunteers to get involved with planning the event itself and helping out on the day.

Join the 2020/21 Committee!

The FSS Committee is a great team to be part of. We're all busy parents but have more energy between us than it’s possible to imagine and a common aim of wanting our children to get as much out of their primary school years as they can. With all the events and activities the FSS puts on every year, this aim becomes achievable.

It incredibly rewarding when the money raised comes in from an event we've put on and we can fund even more for our children. The events are also always a lot of fun organise, from movie nights and discos, to one of our infamous quiz nights!

If any of these roles take your fancy one of our friendly Committee Members would be very happy to chat to you about what's involved or just get in touch at

This person definitely needs to have an organised mind and a passion for coordinating people! It's all about providing a strong communication link between the School and the FSS, managing expectations of what's possible and being determined to strive to do the best to support our school.

Laptop at the ready, this person sets the meetings, agendas and takes the minutes. In the words of our current secretary, "although you have to be ‘on the ball’ in meetings and not switch off and miss anything important, luckily they are always lively and chatty, so there’s no chance of dropping off in the middle!"

Although our current Treasurer, Penny, has a name which befits the title, this is not a prerequisite to take on the role! This job is all about keeping an eye on the numbers - from preparing the accounts and providing cash floats for events, to writing cheques and banking the bucks.

This role is all about getting the word out there when it comes to our fantastic FSS events and activities - grabbing the attention of as many people as possible and inspiring them to help out and attend our events, not to mention blowing the FSS trumpet when it comes to all our fundraising achievements.

Class Reps

The Class Reps keep parents up to date on all the latest FSS activities via their class What's App groups.

They are responsible for coordinating the fundraising events their class has been allocated with the support of all the other class parents.
