The long and short of it is, in the challenging economic climate that all schools are facing, the funds raised by groups like the FSS are more vital than ever.
But without people giving a little of their time to a great cause, the FSS wouldn’t exist – and the reality is that as a result our children wouldn’t enjoy the wide range of learning and development opportunities and extra-curricular experiences we are able to fund.
We really appreciate how busy life is, but lots of little things make a big difference. So even if you can spare an hour a week or a year, it’s corny but it’s true – every little really does help.
All parents with children at the school are automatically FSS members! We always love to see new faces and hear about new fundraising ideas. It’s also a great way to get to know other parents and become part of the school community.
We're holding our next FSS meeting (which will be our AGM) on Tuesday 4th October @ 8pm at The Rattlebone Pub in Sherston. Join us for a drink and to discuss this years spending and fundraising plans. We would love to see you!
Each year group takes responsibility for organising two fundraising events across the school year. Every year group has two FSS Reps who are responsible for coordinating these events, but they can’t do it without the help of other parents, so that’s where you come in.
Your Reps will keep you up to date with all the latest FSS events via the class Whats App groups. When it comes to the events your year is responsible for organising, they'll be on the look out for volunteers to get involved with planning the event itself and helping out on the day.
This years Class Reps will be decided at the AGM on 4/10/2022. If you are a parent and would like to volunteer or find out more information, please get in touch here.
2020/21 class events will be confirmed shortly, in line with the latest COVID-19 guidelines.

The FSS Committee is a great team to be part of. We're all busy parents but have more energy between us than it’s possible to imagine and a common aim of wanting our children to get as much out of their primary school years as they can.
It's incredibly rewarding when the money raised comes in from an activity we've put on and we can fund even more for our children. The activities are also always lots of fun organise!
If any of these roles take your fancy one of our friendly Committee Members would be very happy to chat to you about what's involved or just get in touch at fss@sherston.wilts.sch.uk
This person definitely needs to have an organised mind and a passion for coordinating people! It's all about providing a strong communication link between the School and the FSS, managing expectations of what's possible and being determined to strive to do the best to support our school.
Laptop at the ready, this person sets the meetings, agendas and takes the minutes. In the words of our current secretary, "although you have to be ‘on the ball’ in meetings and not switch off and miss anything important, luckily they are always lively and chatty, so there’s no chance of dropping off in the middle!"
This job is all about keeping an eye on the numbers - from preparing the accounts and providing cash floats for events, to writing cheques and banking the bucks.
This role is all about getting the word out to ensure all our fundraising activities are as successful as possible with the support of the children, parents and their families. It is also about making sure we let prospective parents in our local community and beyond know all about our wonderful school.
The Reps keep parents up to date on all the latest FSS activities via the year group Whats App groups. They are responsible for coordinating the fundraising activities their year group has been allocated with the support of all the other class parents.
