On the 22nd November eighteen Year 5 and Year 6 children represented Sherston School at the Malmesbury Netball Festival. There were approximately twenty teams in the competition and they were divided into two halves. One half was for the A teams and the other for the B teams. It was a very cold and windy day and all the children coped extremely well with very difficult conditions. Shooting goals was particularly difficult as the wind would suddenly pick a ball up and hurl it sideways! Amazingly, goals were scored but conditions meant that often there was only one goal separating each team. Sherston A team played consistently well and only lost one match in the pool games. They had a play off for third/fourth position which they won convincingly making them third in the tournament. The B team went one step further and qualified for the first/second final. Sadly they lost that game but it still left them in second position overall which was a fantastic result. My player of the tournament from the A team was Alice N for always being free and supporting her team. Miss Duddridge's player for the B team was Alex E.
Thank you to all of the families who donated boxes for Operation Christmas Child. The school collected more than 70 boxes which will go to give needy children a special gift at Christmas.
